How is home defined when home has been displaced and discarded? This series of films creatively tell the stories of individuals shaping their identity and view of what they call home. Whether it is off the shore of Ha Long Bay, Orange County, or Pulau Bidong, these filmmakers explore the complexities of displacement. In the late 70’s, thousands of refugees fled to Pulau Bidong, an island off the coast of Malaysia. In 2018, hundreds of Vietnamese Americans currently living in the United States will be getting ready to face their deportation orders to go back to Vietnam. How do we tell the story of our past and current experiences of displacement? To answer these questions, we’ve assembled a special panel of individuals who are currently impacted by state-sanctioned immigration policies of displacement.
